Students Who Have a Voice: Stories of Real Participation in Schools
Slobodná škola (slobodnaskola.sk) invites you to an online session: Students Who Have a Voice: Stories of Real Participation in Schools. The session is part of Catalyst Now Week 2026.
What does a school look like when students have a real power at school, and are actively involved in making those decisions? Through stories from students and adults, we will explore the surprising, funny and sometimes difficult reality of sharing decision-making with children and ask what we, as adults, actually need to let go of for it to work.
This online session will share a concrete story of meaningful student participation in school. We will explore what genuine student voice looks like in practice, what conditions make it possible, and how educators and school leaders can move beyond simply “listening to students” towards real collaboration and co-creation with young people. What are the challenges and benefits of such an approach?
This session will share a concrete stories of meaningful student participation in schools in Slovakia and Central Europe.
