Description

Cultivate is a small, empathic school, where a strong sense of belonging empowers children 6-14yrs, to grow creative, curious and confident, as they collaborate in hands-on, meaningful projects in the Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire countryside.

Rooted in leading research from anthropology and psychology, our approach empowers students to become active participants in their education.

What Makes Us Unique:
Playful, Project-Based Learning: Students collaborate in mixed-age groups (1 adult per 6 children), choosing hands-on projects that inspire genuine engagement and skill development.

Whole-Child Focus:
Nonviolent communication, mindfulness, and flexible movement are central—supporting emotional health, resilience, and embodied learning.

Wellbeing Through Nature:
Every week, learning extends outdoors at a local nature reserve and daily within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, fostering environmental stewardship and joyful experience beyond the classroom.

Flexible for Families:
Open 45 weeks a year, we offer full-time, part-time, or flexible attendance. Parents can choose dates that fit their family’s needs, ensuring less stress and more balance.

Empowering Autonomy: Students help shape their learning environment—from resource budgets to hiring staff—building confidence, leadership, and authentic connection.

Smart Use of Technology: While smartphone-free on campus, we embrace thoughtful tech integration, allowing students to help decide how digital tools support learning.

Age Mixing:  Our children learn in mixed-age groups in line with their interests.  We have children between 6 and 14yrs old learning and playing together.

True Community: Through sociocratic decision-making, every voice is heard, creating a caring, inclusive environment for children, families, and staff.

At Cultivate Learning, we reimagine education for today’s world - valuing play, embodiment, intrinsic motivation, autonomy, curiosity, connection, and creativity. Join our community and help your child grow into a capable, compassionate, and joyful learner.
