About Dr Ian Cunningham

Dr Ian Cunningham created the Self Managed Learning approach in the late 1970s, originally for use with adults in higher education and those working in organisations. Ian has provided programmes for most of the UK’s largest companies as well as for international businesses such as Nike, Ericsson and Zurich Financial Services. The SML approach has also been used widely in the public sector such as the NHS, local authorities and Government departments. As well as SML College he has led successful programmes in a number of primary and secondary schools.
